Home made Cleaning Products

Cleaning our homes is essential to enable us to lead a comfortable and healthy life. However most shop bought products contain harmful chemicals and toxins that can cause damage to our skin and body and also damage the environment. Studies have shown that approximately thirty two million pounds of cleaning products enter our drainage system daily. Many of these products contain ingredients such as acids and bleach.
Yes it's convenient to pop to the shops and buy the well advertised cleaning products but for the sake of future generations and the planet do we really want to pour that amount of chemicals into our earth.
There are alternatives available to us that are not too time consuming or costly. Firstly you could visit the Wikaniko website at

where you will find a wide range of reasonably priced eco friendly cleaning products. Plus they are delivered to your door which saves petrol and wear and tear on your shoes and body.
You can also think about making your own cleaning products which are inexpensive and eco friendly.
Baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) can be used as a deodoriser in the home.Simply fill a small container with the baking soda and leace it in your room. The baking soda will take away odours. You can also sprinkle baking soda on material to eradicate  odours such as doggy smells.
Baking soda with vinegar added can be used as a drain clearer.
White vinegar added to water is an ideal cleaner to remove grease.
Olive oil and lemon juice makes an ideal furniture polish.
Lemon juice is not only perfect for cleaning copper bottom pans but it also leave a lovely fresh fragrance in the kitchen
