Seeds are sprouting

We are so lucky in Spain as it seems that whatever seeds we put in the ground they  sprout. This year our two  plots are going to be full with a variety of vegetables. I have just had a wander around and can see tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, melons, courgettes, pumpkins, potatoes, lettuce and a variety of herbs beginning to grow. My  traps  http://bit.ly/17c7noV   and various barriers are working and as yet the slugs and snails have not had a much on the tender shoots. We also have a bed of lemon grass which grows extremely well here.
I grow the pumpkins for us to eat but also for the dogs. Mutley in particular tends to get blocked anal sacs and cooked pumpkin really does the trick. There is nothing worse than having a dogs that has gas, its extremely embarrassing when we have friends around and Mutley causes a rather unpleasant smell.
We also give the pumpkin to the chickens who really love it.
This year I have also planted some flower seeds. In the past I have not been that good at growing flowers other than hollyhocks which seem to grown wild in these parts. They are already flowering which adds colour to the garden.
Today I planted Chard seeds. I have never grown or eaten chard and the instructions say the leaves are spinach and the stalk similar to asparagus. We have asparagus in the veg plot but we only seem to get a few stalks. I have also planted spinach seeds and they are really doing well. As always I will have planted too much and no doubt during the summer friends and of course the chickens will benefit.
